Descrizione

Very Scarce, first and presumed only edition. Illustrated on every page in colour, including movable activity tabs that slide or spin to make the images move or change. Small 4to, original pictorially decorated paper-covered boards, spiral bound and backed in black cloth, tipped in are the original folding "My Victory Book" stamp album with one unattached 10 cent War Savings Stamp, these were provided to get children started with collecting War Bonds. [10pp., unpaginated]. Extremely uncommon to this copy is that all seven of the moveable activity tabs and wheels are intact and working, though one has a minor tape repair. The 10 cent stamp originally hidden behind a tab on a train car is present but now laid in with the Victory Book album which is in a special pocket for it on the rear pastedown, both in excellent unused condition and these are typically both lacking. The text leaves are well preserved, especially for a children's book. The pictorial covers are bright, though aged and worn at the edges, the cloth backing with holds the boards to the spiral binding is near-fully degraded as is almost always the case due to the wartime materials used, thus the boards are nearly detached.

Edizione: a very scarce walt disney wartime activity book from the second world war. the book was conceived and published to promote children's involvement in the war effort at home by collecting savings stamps that could then be redeemed for $25 series e war bonds.<br> the book features virtually every major disney character of the period that one could think of as they help donald duck recover and protect a treasure chest (the 10 cent stamp) from the big bad wolf and two others who are portrayed as nazi and japanese agents. among the others involved are mickey & minnie, snow white and the seven dwarfs, goofy, casey junior, dumbo, pluto, the three little pigs, jiminy cricket, and others.
