A reissue in a slightly abridged version [Edited and annotated by Thomas Philbrick] of the journeys in 1854 of this intrepid Victorian traveller who "traveled for five months, much of the time alone, by every imaginable method of conveyance through Upper and Lower Canada and from New England to the Mississippi." Includes her observation of people and places from her arrival in Halifax, through Prince Edward Island,Boston, Buffalo, Cincinnati, Chicago, Detroit, Hamilton, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Montreal , Quebec and New York. Illustrated in colour by a selection of contemporary prints. 372 p. map index. The Lakeside Press Classics series was started in 1903 by Thomas E.
