Descrizione

8vo. 1 page. With integral address panel on verso. To the Freiburg professor of Botany, Karl Julius Perleb (1794-1845), concerning his latest expedition to Arabia. He apologizes for not being able to write, as he is tortured by "ophthalmia" (likely Trachoma), but informs the recipient that the journey went well and that he was able to deposit a large number of specimens for him in Alexandria, intending to send them as soon as he arrives there. Schimper plans to take a closer look at camels and buffalos. Unfortunately a part of his specimens collected in the preceding year have fallen into unfaithful hands, following the death of a friend, but they should by now have been posted to the addressee. However, Schimper wonders about the state of the boxes' contents and promises to reimburse the recipient for any damage: "Ich bin zur ck aus Arabien allein ich kann Ihnen nicht schreiben, weil mich seit 40 Tagen Ophthalmie martert.
