Sm. 8vo., Tenth Edition; most attractively bound in ginger full roan, upper board elaborately blocked to an Arts & Crafts design of monogram with acorns and oak leaves in gilt, red and blind, backstrip blocked and lettered in gilt and blind, gilt top, marbled endpapers, uncut, a near fine copy. With 4pp publisher's catalogue at end. This collection of forty-three essays and sketches was first published in 1911; this is the work's first appearance in this binding. In 'The Rarities', Lucas describes Maurice Hewlett's beautiful garden near Salisbury where he enjoyed the peace and the trout stream, and saw his fifth kingfisher.
