Descrizione

246pp + adverts VG/G First edition in English, translated from the German 1931 edition by H K Cameron. Original green hardback, embossed front board and gilt lettering on spine in editorial dustwrapper, dw slightly dusty with tear on lower spine, the book itself is in excellent conditions, clean, crisp and tight, except for some light spotting on edges it is a superlative copy, apparently hardly read. Comprehensive work on nitrocellulose and lacquer by an authority in the field, profusely illustrated by diagrams, tables and b/w pictures. Dr Fritz Zimmer was chief chemist and technical director of the well-known Dr Eugen Schaal AG lacquer and paint works. From the 1934 Translator's Preface: "This essentially practical book presents the German point of view on a subject which has developed rapidly since the war. . The tabulation of data of plasticisers has been amplified, similar tables for solvents and diluents introduced, and a short note has been added at the end."
