First Edition. Laid in this copy is the colour printed prospectus and order form for "Edinburgh". Illustrated with 20 very fine colourplates from the paintings of John Fulleylove, and with a folding map. 8vo, publisher's original dark blue decorated cloth, the upper cover with lettering and twin swords in gilt within a brown geometric framework, the spine with gilt lettering and gilt swords and shield within the brown framework, t.e.g. ix, 160, 4 ads pp. A fine and bright copy, the text and binding in superb condition.

Edizione: a seldom seen black travel book, and a very pretty one too. fulleylove was one of the publisher's favorite illustrators, and rightly so. his paintings rank among the finest to be found in black's travel books, and he was one of england's most famous landscape artists of the period. in this attractive volume our focus is set on middlesex, the historic county of the south east. famous sights such as hampton court, kew bridge, highgate, etc., are all beautifully described in both words and pictures.
