Libro decorato con 52 figure incise da Adrien Gambart (1600-1668) L'edizione originale di questo testo risale al 1684 dello stesso tipografo. Nella prima parte del libro, che è la vita reale del santo esposta in 52 emblemi, Gambart propone una scomposizione molto istruttiva: una virtù alla settimana per tutto l'anno e una "pratica" di questa virtù, al giorno, per tutta la settimana, "affinché applichi a te stesso ciò che vedi essere stato praticato da questo Santo Prelato" . La seconda parte è costituita da meditazioni, senza incisioni, organizzate secondo un modello semplificato di quello proposto nell'Introduzione alla vita devota: meditazione poi affetti e risoluzioni, in più punti. Il professor Karel Porteman ha evidenziato le somiglianze tra le parole di Gambart e quelle del poeta calvinista, emblematico e politico olandese Jacob Cats nella sua prefazione a Silenius Alcibiadis, pubblicata a Middelburg nel 1618. Cats ha anche proposto la sequenza da meditazione su 52 settimane, consentendo così di coprire un anno. Come confermato da altri studi correnti, l'emblema sacro, come genere ancorato alla Parola di Cristo, alla Parola, va al di là delle liti confessionali del tempo. Book decorated with 52 engraved figures by Adrien Gambart (1600-1668) The original edition of this text dates back to 1684 by the same printer. In the first part of the book, which is the real life of the Saint exposed in 52 emblems, Gambart proposes a very instructive idea: one virtue a week for the whole year and a "practice" of this virtue, a day, for the whole week, "so that you apply to yourself what you see being practiced by this Holy Prelate." The second part consists of meditations, without incisions, organized according to a simplified model of the one proposed in the Introduction to the devout life: meditation then affections and resolutions, in several points. Professor Karel Porteman highlighted the similarities between Gambart's words and those of the Calvinist poet, emblematic Dutch politician Jacob Cats in his preface to Silenius Alcibiadis, published in Middelburg in 1618. Cats also proposed the meditation sequence over 52 weeks, thus allowing to cover one year. As confirmed by other current studies, the sacred emblem, as a genre anchored to the Word of Christ, goes beyond the confessional quarrels of the time.
