This is a very good softcover copy with just light cover wear. Completely clean. Text in German. This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition in Florence at an unusual venue. A building connected to the San Salvi Psychiatric Hospital was set aside in 1975 to provide patients with materials to make art. Earlier this building was used to make wine and still had some of the original vats in place, hence the name 'La Tinaia'. By the late 1980's these artists had some exposure in European galleries and fairs and were shown with the Art Brut artists. The Phyllis Kind Gallery of Chicago and New York was showing some of these artists, and apparently distributed this catalog, as it has a Phyllis Kind Gallery label on the rear cover. Also some additional material laid in: a Phyllis Kind publicity sheet announcing two shows at the gallery: 1) La Tinaia artists from San Salvi and 2) Hands of Time. American prison art. Checklist for the La Tinaia artists with titles of works and prices, this is somewhat marked up. Also an extract of the essay by Massimo Mensi in French laid in (5 pages). The catalog is illustrated throughout in color with a number of fold-outs. Artists included: Giordano Gelli, Gabriele Trinchera, Guido Boni, Marco Raugei, Giuseppina Pastore, Franco Settembrini, Paolo Paoli, Paolo Rafanelli, Claudio Ulivieri, and Francesco Motolese. Biographical sketches for the artists. 11" high X 9" wide, 120 pages. This book will be securely packed and shipped with tracking.
