Descrizione

RARE play set in Peru at the time of the Spanish conquest of the country, and in the conflict between the Inca emperor Atahuallpa (spelled "Atabalipa") and the conquistador Francisco Pizarro, escallating in the trial and execution of the former. The author, De Aguiar, was a Madeira-born poet and playwright, and one of the greatest authors of Portuguese-language tragedies. 103x147mm. 125 pages. Rebound brown leather Hardcover with gilt lettering and framing on spine. Cover corners rubbed. Spine edges slightly bumped. Ex libris sticker on inner front cover upper corner. Title page and first two pages have a very small tear on inner edge, but it does not render the text unreadable. Several pages slightly age stained. Pages slightly yellowing and wavy. [SUMMARY]: This rare play on the conquest of Peru from a 19th-century-European point of view is in good condition for its age.
