8vo., First Edition in English, on laid paper, with half-title in green and black, title in red, green and black, and text in black within art nouveau frames in green, some mild offsetting to free endpapers; red cloth, boards framed in gilt, gilt back, gilt top, uncut, original pictorial wrappers printed in green and black preserved, a near fine copy. EDITION LIMITED TO 500 NUMBERED COPIES (THIS COPY NO. 48). With 4pp publisher's catalogue bound in at end. The limitation statement calls for twenty-one etchings by Martin van Maele; these are rarely, if ever, present and have not been bound in here. The sole illustration is that on the front wrapper, though there are thirty historiated initial capitals in the text. A lovely copy of a beautiful period edition. SCARCE.
