A pictu Horticultural Society of New York Catalogue p. 189. Catalogue of the Massachusetts Horticultural Society 268. Robinson was "the most famous and controversial gardening journalist of the nineteenth century" (Hugh Johnson). This is the second book published by the author, who has been called the father of English gardening. This work helped to establish his reputation. Many of his later works had roots in this work. Beautifully illustrated, with views and plans of Paris, plants, gardens, tools, prining arrangements, etc. Mea Allen p. 95.
