A picture of this book is available upon request by email. One of the first books on aquariums in America, published soon after Gosse's ground-breaking British work of 1856. This copy has the colored plate of a Victorian aquarium, which many copies lack. 'The aquarium has become, within a short period, almost a necessary luxury in every well-appointed household, both in Europe and America'. [preface]. The author gathered much of his information at Barnum's American Museum, which had some of the first aquariums.
