Description

2 volumes. Vol. I. - An Account of the ship itself, with plans and full instructions for building the hull, bulwarks, and deck fittings of a scale model. Vol. II. - Describing the masts, spars, and rigging of a scale model, and including the builder's specification for the construction of the original ship. [First Edition] Vol. I with 82 illustrations and 3 folding plates; Vol. II with 83 illustrations and 2 folding plates. All the folding plates or plans are housed in pockets at the end of each volume. 8vo, publisher's original navy-blue cloth gilt lettered on spines and upper covers, and in the original dustjackets of matching design but contrasting colours. xxix, [1], 208, [2 ads.]; xi, [1], 232, [2 ads.] pp. A very fine set, the bindings strong and tight, the hinges strong, the text-blocks and illustrations all very well preserved, bright and clean. The original jackets are a bit edge worn and have some chipping at the spine tips but remain quite bright and attractive in spite of their general age mellowing.
