A study on recurrent or relapsing fever caused by the Spirochaetaceae bacteria often transferred by lice, related to the Borrelia bacterium. The book is based on observations of an epidemic which occurred at Breslau in 1868. Oscar Wyss (1840-1918) from Dietikon was active at the University of Breslau from 1862 till 1869 when he was appointed professor at the outpatients clinic in Zurich. He had numerous publications to his name and was editor of "Züricher Blätter für Gesundheitspflege". His co-author Karl Ernst Bock (1809-1874) was a very popular general practitioner and medical author. - Partly erased ms. dedication by the authors on flyleaf, exlibris on pastedown. - Hirsch VI, 345f. and I, 496.
