(Offprint number 1891) With illustrations throughout the text and the Smithsonian seal on the title-page. 8vo, in the original printed wrappers. 197-207 pp. issued and bound separately as an offprint. Extremely well preserved, the wrappers with just a little edge mellowing.

Edizione: very scarce offprint of this overview of pioneering experiments in transmitting photographs over distance by electrical signals. the publication is the english text of an article originally appearing in the "revue scientifique" and includes studies by senlecq-tival, carbonelle, berjonneau, belin, and korn. korn was the first to introduce a facsimile machine suitable for the transmission of photographs. in its first test use korn would transmit a photograph of prince regent luitpold from munich to nuremberg in a process that required 42 minutes.
