The author of Silent Highways in the Jungle and of Man-Hunting in the Jungle, in Search of Colonel Fawcett, describes in this work his climbing Sangai (Sangay) and Tungurahuaa (which he describes as an ugly heap of rocks and snow), but its currently an active volcano, and then describes his stay among the headhunters (he calls them head shrinkers) of the Amazon and travel by jungle and river to Sumacu, with interesting illustrations (including one of village of Banos, now a thriving tourist town, but then with only straw-roofed huts).
