Description

Book is in excellent condition in every respect with black cloth covers with bright silver embossed flower representations on the cover, silver print at spine, but with a small rectangle cut out of the top of the half title page, apparently where a previous owner's name was. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket shows the slightest signs of shelf wear with a 1" tear at top spine. First edition of this scarce and invaluable work on the art of the subarctic Athapaskans in Western Canada and British Columbia from pre-Columbian period to present day, focusing on clothing ornamentation with elaborate beadwork on jackets, shoes, pants, dog blankets, wigs, bags, dresses, leathergoods of all kinds, and a sophisticated quill tradition. With many maps, b&w photos, some color. Heavily illustrated.
