Description

First edition. 8vo, publisher original red cloth, lettered on the spine in gilt and with U.S. Marine Corp. insignia in gilt on the upper cover, in the origial pictorially illustrated dustjacket. 180pp. A fine copy, very much so really for a book produced to wartime standards, the very attractive jacket has a touch of light edgewear and is price-clipped.

Edizione: very scarce firsthand account of life in the u. s. marine's women's reserve, all but unheard of in such nice condition. the author was one of the first women to command a female detachment. the marine corp. looked to women to replace desperately needed battle-ready men in support positions. first lieutenant white was called a lady leatherneck, a marine in the proud tradition of honor, valor and camaraderie. the slogan ?the few, the proud? amply describes her.
