The volume contains a palaeographic transcription of the first French translation of Francis Bacon?s Novum Organum. The extensive apparatus of notes is the result of a detailed collation between the French text and the Latin original. The introduction traces the history of the translation, so far unpublished, whose historical-philosophical importance is remarkable: it was the first translation of this work, attesting the spread of Bacon?s thought in European intellectual circles in the early 17th century. 450 gr. xxxii-206 p.
