Description

This is a very good softcover copy in a stiff tan printed portfolio. The portfolio contains a text booklet and 7 pages reproducing handwritten description of the themes of the prints and 28 loose black & white plates with Vilaro's images of urban black life in Montevideo in the 1950's. The text booklet is signed and inscribed by the artist to a friend. Also laid-in is a exhibition hand-out or card printed in red and black with an image of a drummer, announcing an exhibition of Vilaro's work at the Hotel Carrera in Santiago de Chile. The text in the booklet is by Ildefonso Pereda Valdes. 12" high X 10" wide. The portfolio has little tears to the folds, but no marks and the tipped-on black & white plate on the front cover is fine. The text and plates inside are clean.
