A picture of this book is available upon request by email. This well known author of Latin American travel books travelled extensively through Honduras by rail, plane, mule, burro, boat and by foot, and described nature and the archeology. He studied the rare quetzal, the sacred bird of the Maya, as well as the Toltecs and Aztecs, and the ancient Mayan city of Copan. One of the illustrations is the first photograph ever taken of the Quetzal. This printing has the advantage of a new frontis of the quetzal that is in color (the first colored photo of a quetzal published) and a bibliography and appendix on the literary history of the quetzal that is not in the first edition.
