8vo, 154x92 mm, contemporary full leather binding, five raised bands at spine, gilt title and decorations at spine, marbled paper at paste-downs, red sprinkled edges, silk bookmark; pp. [16], 160. Printer's woodcut at title-page. Title page printed in red and black. Xyl. ornaments and initials. Rare second edition of this work on fevers and smallpox (first published in London in 1719). John Freind (1675-1728) was one of the most famous doctors in England. Prov.: Handwritten inscriptions of two owners at title-page (unreadable). Ref.: IT\ICCU\MILE\024713 (2 copies). OCLC, 924079150. Cond.: Light traces of use to the binding (a little abrasion at front board). Some marginal stains at some leaves, including at title-page. Otherwise, fresh and clean leaves. Overall, a very good copy.
