Braunschweig, Schulbuchhandlung, 1801. Nice set of Campe's (1746-1818) account of the discovery of America for a young audience. Educator of Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt, Campe made it his concern to present travel literature to children, generations of German speaking youngsters got their first knowledge of America through his books. Part I presents the story of Columbus, part II of Cortes, and part III of Pizarro. With maps of the Gulf of Mexico, the southern part of North America, and South America. The work was first published in 1781-82 and saw numerous re-editions and translations. - Some brown stains at the beginning of vol.
