Si tratta della prima edizione della famosa Statenbijbel, la traduzione olandese della Bibbia fatta eseguire dal Sinodo di Dordrecht, che iniziò nel 1619 e terminò nel 1635. L’ordine di eseguire la stampa venne dato dagli Stati generali, da cui il nome di questa Bibbia. La prima edizione si riconosce dal fatto che sul verso dei frontespizi si riconosce la firma autografa di Barent Langhenes, datata 1637. Questa traduzione della Bibbia fu estremamente importante per i Paesi Bassi, non solo perché rappresentò l’unica Bibbia in uso per più di trecento anni, ma perché la traduzione fu anche strumentale nella formazione della lingua nederlandese. This is the first edition of the famous Statenbijbel, the Dutch translation of the Bible commissioned by the Synod of Dordrecht: the translation began in 1619 and ended in 1635. The order to print was given by the States General, hence the name of this Bible . The first edition can be recognized by the fact that on the verso of the titles we can recognize the handwritten signature of Barent Langhenes, dated 1637.
