The story of Jan Baalsrud, one of a team of Norwegian saboteurs attacking a German aircraft base in Arctic Norway. Intercepted by the enemy, Baalsrud was the sole survivor of the party, left alone on an arctic island with the Germans alerted to his presence. Howarth's account of Baalsrud's multi-faceted escape is the basis of Arne Skouen's feature film 'Nine Lives' (1957). THE ORIGINAL BS EDITION IS VERY SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. Enser, p.299; Law 0892 (both recording the original edition).
