Foster provides an extensive and detailed introduction and historical perspective of this journey that includes Constantinople, across Turkey, Holy Land, across Europe, etc. The appendices include a note on the coins of Turkey, the death of Edward Barton and John Midnall's voyage in the Black Sea, which was the first English trading voyage in the area.
