At the time he started his research, it was not known to where the Monarch migrated south in the winter, but his research was pioneering in helping to understand the migrations, and its winter quarters. There are maps of the breeding areas but the specific breeding areas of Mexico were discovered more recently. This book summarizes his 34 years of research.
