4to., First Edition, on laid paper, with coloured frontispiece, 14 coloured plates, and 95 monochrome plates on 61, title and preface lightly spotted; original navy blue cloth, upper board blocked and lettered in blind, gilt back, blue top, uncut, backstrip and boards unevenly sunned else a very good, bright, clean copy. With 4pp publisher's catalogue bound in at end. A standard reference. The technical commentaries on the vessels depicted are of a high standard.
