English readers who desire an adequate acquaintance with the greatest period of French drama should find its contents fully as interesting as that of its predecessor. Two of the plays included in it, Saint Genest and Ariane, are quite as noted, and by many critics are thought quite as good, as any in the other book. Three others, la Mort de S�que, Osman, and Esther, are of especial interest because of their relationship to Racine�s Britannicus, Ba-jazet, and Esther.
