Descripción

First Edition, reissued. With 75 very beautiful colour-plates after paintings by R. Talbot Kelly. Tall 8vo, publisher’s original blue cloth, lettered and decorated all-over the upper cover and spine in a stylized Egyptian motif in gilt, green and orange, t.e.g. xiii, 246 pp. A pleasing and handsome copy of this fine A & C Black production, the cloth is bright, the gilt lettering and bright decoration all vivid and well preserved, the text-block and plates all fine but for some very light scattered foxing as is almost always the case, a bit more to the endleaves, minimal wear or evidence of age. A nice copy of this elusive book.

Edizione: a pleasing copy. one of a. & c. black’s finest illustrated travel books. the 75 colour-plates and accompanying text vividly express an englishman’s views and impressions of this fascinating nation at the turn of the twentieth century.<br> a contemporary review from the spector said, “this is beyond question the most beautiful book of modern egypt that we have ever seen.” it is now a century later, and the same could easily be said today.
