This is a very good softcover copy with almost no wear. Completely clean inside and out. Text in Japanese, with captions in English for all illustrations. This catalog was published when the new Ishikawa Prefectural Museum opened in 1983, to show the range of its' stunning collections. Long known as a rival to the museums in Tokyo and Kyoto, the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum is one of Japan's finest museums. This catalog is divided into two parts: before Edo period and after Meiji period. Each part has sections on: ceramics, lacquerware, textiles, metalwork, swords and armor, wood, and bamboo crafts. The second part has a long section: Japanese and Eastern style painting, watercolor painting, drawings and sketches. prints, sculpture and calligraphy. Thousands of works catalogued and illustrated in black & white images. Also a color plate section with about 50 plates. 10" high X 7" wide, 498 pages.
