This Ceylon journalist describes the Crown Colony's history since 1803, the introduction of cacao, tea & coffee, the growth of trade and population and the attractions of the island to travellers. The illustrations include scenes, people, vegetation, trees, ruins, etc. This is an enlarged, revised and updated version of 'Ceylon in 1883', Ceylon in 1884 and Ceylon in 1890 with many new illustrations, and the colored map brought up-to-date. The author had lived in Ceylon many years.
