2 vols., 8vo., Third Edition, with a engraved portrait frontispiece and over 500 fine woodcuts in the text; original cloth blocked in blind, gilt backs, small 'pull' at headband of first volume else a remarkably bright, clean set in publisher's original binding. Yarrell's classic survey was first published 1835-6 with two supplementary parts added in 1839. 'The present edition, in which some supposed species are suppressed and new ones added, contains in all two hundred and sixty species, with cuts of the new ones, and many additional ornamental vignettes' (Introduction').
