12mo [19.5 x 13.5 cm]; 354 pp, 8 tinted plates including frontis and extra pictorial title page, index. original blind-stamped cloth, elaborate gilted spine with gilt title lettering, short tear and slightly frayed spine end, lightly foxed on some leaves, but overall clean, very good sound copy, spine gilt bright. A picture of this book is available upon re Robinson p. 25: 'She was the first full-time woman traveller'. The author describes her travels in 1845 in interesting detail with some emphasis on the people and their customs, scenery, notable buildings and events. The US edition of same year had no plates, which are of scenery, geysers, Copenhagen, Christiania, Falls of Trolhatta, Stockholm, mines of Dannemora, etc.
