Prima edizione. Bellori, teorico e storico dell’Arte fu curatore ed antiquario delle collezioni di papa Clemente X e della regina Cristina di Svezia, noché segretario dell'Accademia di San Luca. Nel campo archeologico è degna di nota la pubblicazione, che egli scrisse insieme all’incisore romano Pietro Santi Bartoli, Admiranda romanarum antiquitatum ac veteris sculpturae vestigia (Roma 1693). Con la collaborazione di Bartoli, Bellori realizzò anche numerosi volumi di riproduzioni commentate di pitture e monumenti romani. Le tavole mostrano ricostruzioni degli archi o dettagli delle loro sculture in rilievo. First edition. Bellori, art theorist and historian, was curator and antiquarian of the collections of Pope Clement X and Queen Christina of Sweden, as well as secretary of the Academy of Saint Luke. In the archaeological field it is worth mentioning the publication, which he wrote together with the Roman engraver Pietro Santi Bartoli, Admiranda romanarum antiquitatum ac veteris sculpturae vestigia (Rome 1693). With the collaboration of Bartoli, Bellori also produced numerous volumes of reproductions and commentary of Roman paintings and monuments.
