8vo [22 x 14 cm]; 3 volumes, xx, [ii], [23]-392; [ii], 366; [ii], 312 pp, 60 engraved folding plates and map (of 61, lacking plate 39 of Elbequier Place). contemporary half calf, marbled boards, spines quite worn, joints cracked but holding, interior is clean and very good+, plates and maps very good, untorn, some with just slight foxing. A picture of this book is available upon request by email. The plates include views, scenery, archaeological views, ruins, relics, portraits, buildings, printed examples of manuscripts, etc, some plates with two or more views, and are finely engraved. 'Denon was the first to reveal the richness of Egyptian art to Europe, having worked in extremely difficult circumstances during Napoleon's Egyptian campaign' (Blackmer). Ibrahim-Hilmy 172.
