8vo [22.5 x 15 cm]; volume III only, [vii] - xxiii, 677- 984 pp, 3 plates, 3 folding maps, bibliog, index. original pictorial gilt and blind-stamped cloth, gilt spine title lettering, rear cover stained and faded, interior is clean, fine and unmarked. A picture of this book is available upon request by email. National Maritime Museum Catalogue 433. The work has a useful and detailed introduction. Carre traveled from France through Syria, Iraq, Persian Gulf to Surat, Goa, Bijapur, Madras, St. Thome, etc. This volume includes an account of the Sicilian revolt against Spanish rule at Messina. The maps show East Coast of India with port insets; Persian Gulf; Syria and Iraq.
