Edizione: first easton press printing superbly illustrated. "the talisman, originally published in 1825, may be said to introduce the final third of the waverley novels. it recounts the derring-do of sir kenneth, prince royal of scotland, in the holy land. its main character is richard coeur de lion, who would become king richard i of england. richard also appears in two other waverley novels: invanhoe, and the betrothed. the latter and the talisman constitute 'the tales of the crusaders.'"
