First Edition thus. Extensively illustrated by Gustave Doré. There are numerous full page plates and a vast number of illustrations of varying size all throughout the text. Large 8vo, in the publisher's original Riverside pebbled orange cloth, the upper cover and spine lettered and extensively illustrated with designs by Doré in black and vivid gilt, the rear cover embossed in blind, a.e.g. xii, 423 pp. A handsome copy with overall age mellowing to the cloth. Normal mellowing to the pages due to the paper stock used by the publisher, front inner hinge just starting. An honest copy of a scarce book.
