Description

One of only 50 Zaehnsdof bound copies of this facsimile of the Log Of The Bounty, from a total edition of 500. As might be expected, this is a beautiful presentation, bound in full dark blue Niger goatskin, with five raised bands, exemplary gilt detailing and decoration and red silk laid endpapers. This is copy 177 of the full edition, with an additional limitation page, signed by Mountbatten of Burma, specifying the Zaehnsdorf Edition. Mountbatten has provided a foreword. All is in fine order throughout. Gilt to all edges. Presented in original solander box, this, having done its job, is a little worn and lightly marked. Internally, the case is spotted. Folio. Unpaginated. Background: This is the first volume produce by Genesis, which has gone on to become a significant publisher of special and limited editions. After studying at The London College of Printing and working for three book publishers, Brian Roylance founded Genesis Publications in a one-roomed office in Guildford and obtained permission to publish the hand-written account of the voyage of the Bounty from the manuscript held in The Public Record Office in London. The embryonic Genesis got a further boost when the late Lord Mountbatten agreed to write the foreword.
