Edizione: a fine early illustrated collected edition of burns' works. the steel engravings are of excellent quality and reflect the rural charm and humor of the ploughman poet's beloved works.<br> the collection includes allan cunningham’s “life and notices”. cunningham, a published poet and magazine contributor, was a neighbor of robert burns. burns died when cunningham was only a child, but he had many recollections of his father’s friend. the handsome steel engravings in this edition include a number of impressive portraits, but there are also illustrations to verses which delightfully capture the lighthearted style and charm of the scottish poet.
