Text arabisch. - Einband leicht berieben und besto�n, papierbedingt gebr�t. - Sufyan ibn Sa'id ibn Masruq Abu 'Abd Allah al-Kufi, bekannter unter dem Namen Sufyan ath-Thauri (716-778) war ein bedeutender islamischer Gelehrter. Er befasste sich intensiv mit dem islamischen Recht, gr�ndete eine juristische Schule, die eine Zeit lang bis nach Spanien ausstrahlte, und spielte eine wichtige Rolle in der Weitergabe zahlreicher Hadith-�erlieferungen. - Imtiyaz 'Ali 'Arshi (auch imtiyz Ali Khan Arshi, 1904-1981) war von 1932 bis zu seinem Tod Direktor der Raza-Bibliothek in Rampur, Uttah Pradesh. Dort entdeckte und bearbeitete er das Manuskript des Koran-Kommentars von Sufyan Sauri. / From the library of Prof. Dr. Albrecht Noth (1937-1999), long-time professor for the history and culture of the Near East in Bonn and Hamburg. Arabic text. - Sufyan ath-Thawri ibn Said (716�778) was a Tabi� al-Tabi�in Islamic scholar and jurist, founder of the Thawri madhhab.He was also a great hadith compiler (muhaddith). Of his books, perhaps best known is his Tafsir of the Qur'an, one of the earliest in the genre. An Indian MSS purports to preserve it up to Q. 52:13, as published by Imtiy�'Al�Arsh�n 1965; also Tabari's tafsir quotes extensively from the whole text. He also preserved the books of his Umayyad predecessors. (Wikipedia) - Imtiyaz 'Ali' Arshi (also Imtiyz Ali Khan Arshi, 1904-1981) was director of the Raza Library in Rampur, Uttah Pradesh, from 1932 until his death. There he discovered and edited the manuscript of the Quran commentary by ath-Thawri.
