8vo [22.5 x 14 cm]; xvi, 339 pp, with the half title. original marbled boards with later cloth spine, gilt title lettering on spine label, boards slightly rubbed, some light foxing on a few leaves but a near fine sound and tight copy. The author, who spent two and a half years in Upper Canada (now Ontario), describes the towns and settlements, their people, conditions, customs, climate, agriculture, land, etc, in some detail, includes Glengary, Batteaux, Kingston, York, Queenston, Niagara Falls, Lundy's Lane, St. Catharines, Long Point, Talbot, area around Lake Erie, etc.
