Book shows minor wear to covers only: corner wear at front bottom corner and top spine. Otherwise quite clean. Binding is solid and square, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket has signifigant edge wear top and bottom with small tears < 1" . 220 pages with 152 illustrations, text to page 40 then all full page, full plate b&w photos throughout with short, captioned descriptions, Text is divided between The Asuka period, Nara period, Later Nara period, Heian period, Kamakura period. Plates include Yakushi Nyorai, Shaka Nyorai, numerous bodhisattvas, Kannon, Ashura, Eleven-headed KannonShaka Nyorai, Guardian figure Kongorikishi, Chogen, Uesugi Shigefusa Fox messenger guard dogs of Inari, and many many others in bronze, wood, lacquer, etc. All plates are in excellent condition.
