Second edition thus, one year after the first. WITH A SIGNED PRESENTATION INSCRIPTION BY THE EDITOR, JEAN CAMP. Printed in blue. Small 4to, publisher’s original printed wrappers, in glassine. 95 pp. A very good copy with only a bit of minor expected wear to the delicate paper wrappers and toning to the paper as is typical.

Edizione: inscribed by jean camp. perhaps garcia lorca’s most famous work, “gypsy ballads” was first published in spanish in 1928. it consists of eighteen ballads, each of the poems have something in common, dealing with gypsy culture . it reflects the pains of a persecuted people living on the fringe of society and finding itself pursued by the representatives of authority, and their struggle against this repressive authority. this struggle would be echoed in garcia lorca’s own life, he was presumed killed by anti-communist forces just days after the outbreak of the spanish civil war. a unique copy, inscribed by the editor, jean camp. camp also provides essay on garcia lorca and his work which is not included in the earlier spanish or english editions.
