8vo [24 x 15 cm]; xiv, 321 pp, 13 plates including frontis, large [32 x 24 inches] colored folding map (few repairs of tears on verso), other illustrations including geological cross-sections, tables. original cloth with gilt spine title lettering, spine end frayed, bookplate removed from front endpaper, a clean sound copy, very good or better. A picture of this book is available upon request by email. Each county is described in detail including mineral resources, agriculture, water power, scenery, cattle and sheep, towns, schools, transportation, timber, manufacturing, etc. The plates include Hale's Falls, Montgomery White Sulphur Springs, Wythe mines, Washington Springs, Falls of Mill Creek, Holston Springs, Beatrice Falls, views, etc. The large map also has a view of Penington's Gap, Lee County. Copies were not traced in Sabin or in Library of Congress Catalogue. No copies were traced at auction in the last 25 years.
