Descrizione

3, 72 pp. Delisle, upon perusing the catalogue of Lord Ashburnham's library (compiled by none other than renowned book thief Guglielmo Libri), noticed that over thirty of the manuscripts greatly resembled codices that had disappeared from the Bibliothèque Impériale. Ashburnham had acquired all of those manuscripts from celebrated medievalist Jean-Baptiste-Joseph Barrois. This book provides a detailed account of each of the manuscripts, comparing various published descriptions. Delisle also tries to explain how Barrois had acquired them. A fascinating bit of detective work. Printed on fine wove paper. Large 8vo. Bound in contemporary boards. Light wear to beards, internally fine and bright. Rare.
