8vo [23 x 15 cm]; xxvii, 515 pp, mounted lithographed frontis of author, half title page is present, index. original blind-stamped cloth and spine with gilt spine title lettering have been professionaly rebacked with new endpapers resulting in a solid and sound copy, inscribed on title, corners a little worn, very good, clean. A picture of this book is availabl Yakushi W108. Wolff was sent to Bokhara to determine the fate of the two British officers, who were executed, Wolff barely escaping the same fate. A fascinating narrative of this dangerous journey, with excellent observations. Blackmer 1833: 'An amazing series of adventures in which he barely escaped with his life.'
