Illustrated in colours on full-page plates and within the text throughout by Jean-A. Mercier. Large 8vo, very handsomely bound in a signed contemporary French binding of three-quarter honey morocco over fine French marbled paper, the spine with raised bands forming two compartments, both lettered in gilt, the joins of the turnovers and morocco sides with double fillet rules in blind, fine marbled endleaves, top edge gilt. [86], [1] pp. A very fine copy, the binding beautifully preserved, the text-block and illustrations all in very fine condition.

Edizione: first of this printing of musset's les nuits and one of a very limited number printed on hollande van gelder paper. musset's writing focuses the chapters on the months of may, december, august and october. the illustrations of mercier are both beautiful and evocative, the colours rich and the images quite exquisite.
