A libellous account about the court of Napoleon by Lews Goldsmith (ca. 1780-1846). A refugee in France, he served the country by publishing anti-British views in his journal "L'Argus, ou Londres vu de Paris". For this service, he was named sworn interpreter at the court of justice. Having committed an indiscrtion, he was almost extradited. Later on, he managed to make his peace with the British government, and directed his poison pen against France. - Hoefer XXI, 117.
